M. ISAAC, Future Music
Major Label music executives these days are idiots. By idiots I mean dyed in wool, true blue, shit for brains mooches with a knack for idolizing the scum of society to the general public. These executives are responsible for creating personalities like Soulja Boy, Danity Kane, and many other fly-by-night, waste-of-space marketing abortions from the belly of the dying beast that is the Major Label. Because of their greed, the Majors have exploited their way to near extinction, where even the deepest pockets can't rescue them from failure. Where once titans of industry stood, there are only ghosts of a way of life that existed less than a decade ago. For the Jews there was Moses, for the Independent there was the Internet.
Too much philosophy for you to digest? Then read and understand.
To truly understand how badly the industry is doing, read this piece about album sales.
The Internet has been and will continue to be the undoing of the Major Label not because of downloading or pirating, but because it provides choices to the consumer, which were never available before. By matching the quality of work and many time far exceeding them, Independents are not only able to compete with the Majors, but in fact many times beat them.
Tell me what you think. –M.Isaac

If you look at the breakdown of music sales, cds still account for something like 90% of the market overall. It's mostly in hip hop where people aren't buying cds anymore because most of it is just garbage

As long as they're down and bleeding, we ought to add salt to their wounds by refusing to buy cds completely

Yeah I agree. 5 years is too long even. Though I don't think it's because of the internet mostly. It has mostly to do with quality. why is Norah Jones still selling millions? Why is Alicia Keyes selling millions? Because they're good. It's the quality of hip hop that is really killing many of these guys. Teh A&Rs suck..they can't find talent.

Nah, that's bullshit Cris, these guys are gonna be gone in like 5 years. Notice how they started sufferin' the moment the internet came out? Like dude is sayin, its about choice..

I bet you they will be around. Don't underestimate their power. They may not be doing well now but they are going to adapt. These companies have been around for decades. It's not like they're just going to dissappera. Not going to happen man

It's all worse than you think. 10 years from now none of these big labels will be around. Just watch
